My favorite performance is with the Nursing Home performance that turns a little sideways: Kotaro comes up with crazy scheme after crazy scheme to help market the Zombie Idols, such as chicken restaurant commercials and Nursing Home performances. Unlike Sakura, the other idols have vague memories of their living life, so they try to reconcile their death with their new life. Kotaro and the rest of Franchouchou also constantly go at odds of doing the idol group work, with the silliest amount of work possible. They decide on the group name “Franchouchou” after hearing Tae sneeze super hard. The rest of the series goes through the fast-paced work of an idol group. The crowd is confused at first, but eventually love the energy of the zombie girls! Elated, Sakura gets a stage dive in! Hooray, everyone’s awake! Hoo boy, almost everyone is awake. She realizes that this is exactly what she wanted all this time. This scene is even more enjoyable knowing that there is a Death Metal Kawaii group called Babymetal.Īs Sakura is headbanging to the point of re-breaking her neck, she feels the tingle of killing it on the stage. Saki screams to the crowd while the other idols start headbanging in unison. On the stage Sakura gets stage fright until the death metal track plays. Even Sakura admits that their makeup foundation hides the dull gray corpse skin everyone has. He isn’t afraid of being caught because he perfected his makeup skills in Hollywood. Kotaro convinces Sakura to join the show. Sakura nervously frets about her first show, as well as making sure her teammates don’t give away that they’re zombies. Kotaro wants the rest of the girls to “fully awaken,” so the logical conclusion is to book a show for the idol group to perform… in 12 hours?! At a Death Metal venue no less! Sakura is extremely confused and gets brief answers about her fellow zombie idols. He is convinced a good pop idol group would stimulate the Saga Prefecture economy. Kotaro then shares with Sakura his major goal: to use zombie girls from previous music trends to create a pop idol group. Sakura wakes up in a brightly lit room in the house and her Stage Manager Kotaro Tatsumi is there to help “rip the band-aid off.” It’s now 2018 instead of 2008, you went against a speeding truck and lost, and other girls are rocking the red-haired look too. You can’t idol with multiple bullet holes in your chest!Īs Sakura faints from the shock, her Stage Manager appears in time to rescue her from the Police Officer. Sakura faints from the shock, although her Stage Manager is there to rescue her from the Police Officer. Confused, Sakura looks at a roadside mirror for the first time. Instead of telling her directions to the nearest train station, the police officer freaks out and pulls out a gun. A police officer stops by in the pouring rain and she asks for help. While running, Sakura finds road signs that point out she is in Saga Prefecture (an area comparable to middle California). Sakura doesn’t want her brains eaten! Sakura fends off the zombie girls and escapes the house. While trying to escape, Sakura finds out she isn’t alone.įive zombie girls, who appear to be from different time periods, are inching towards Sakura. While trying to figure out what is happening, Sakura is chased by a creepy girl. Our next scene has Sakura waking up in a darkened room during a thunderstorm. When this show first started, anime fans had a compelling and deep conversation about the need to watch out for traffic–Nawwwww multiple memes were made with the caption “mmmm whatcha say~!”Īt first, the shows acts like one of the shortest anime shows in history. On her way to dropping off the mailing package, she gets a bump in her idol dreams. She is a huge fan of Idol Groups and wants to be a part of an Idol Group too! Sakura is about to go send an audition tape to one of the major music labels. Zombie Land Saga begins with introducing our “leader” Sakura Miyamoto. A happy-go-lucky girl about to live her best life! Zombie Land Saga helps show that even if you’re dead, you’re still marketable. Japanese Idol Groups generally use bouncy pop music although many idol groups buck the trend. Japanese Idol Groups are primarily all-female bands that do pop songs as well as acting, dancing, and modeling. Despite adversity to her dreams, zombie teen Sakura works with fellow zombies to create a pop team and revitalize Saga, Japan.Įver since the Pop Group Boom of the 90’s, Japan had a fascinating addition to music entertainment: the Idol Group.
